Chapter 2 Professional Learning Network Q&A

1. What smartphone and tablet apps are you using to support your learning as a college student in a teacher education program?

- Currently, I am frequently using the GroupMe app to coordinate with other students. I also enjoy using Pinterest to learn of new ways to develop a future classroom. I utilize and interpret sensory inspired boards regularly to familiarize effective teaching strategies in a flex-seating classroom.

2. How has using apps changed the ways you function as a student or as a consumer, if at all?

- Apps have made life as a student easier. Not only do I have help with assignments, general knowledge, but also time management and organization.

3. Do you view smartphones and tablet apps as tools primarily for teachers or as direct instructional devices for students? How might you use apps in teaching to engage students and support their learning?

- I see smartphones and tablet apps as a type of technology that should be primarily used by the teacher instead of the student. I believe the teacher should have more research on a particular subject than the student. That way he or she is prepared for any and all questions asked by a student.
